The concepts of my work revolve around the idea of functionality and daily use.  I hope that the work I create is used frequently; that it becomes part of daily rituals. I am motivated by the idea that a simple handmade mug, bowl, or plate can create meaningful experiences. My approach to working with clay could be described as mechanical, and precise. After the work is produce, it is carved to create design on the surface. The designs and imagery which are integrated into the forms have become a hallmark for my pottery. I am inspired by historical and contemporary designs and patterns that frequently evolve through the process of making.
